More information about Vintage 1951 1st Edition Illustrated HC w DJ: “Cape Cod” by Henry David Thoreau

As shown. See entire photos. Found among my late mother’s belongings. Reprint published by W.W. Norton.

“Black and white drawings by Henry Bugbee Kane; introduction by Henry Beston; arranged with notes by Dudley C. Lunt. Together with the text of Cape Cod, there has been coupled here for the first time Thoreau's Journal account of his fourth and last visit to the Cape in June, 1857. BINDING/CONDITION: green cloth with brown and gilt text and decoration; bookplate, otherwise a exceptionally Good book, with a Good dust jacket; publisher's price on the jacket flap is intact.”

“Based on several trips to the Cape and originally published as a series of articles, Henry David Thoreau's Cape Cod is a remarkable work that depicts the natural beauty of Cape Cod and the nature that surrounds it. Thoreau, a consummate lover of the outdoors and nature is right at home in the Cape and he details his excitement of the area with naturalist portraits of the indigenous species and animals.“
